How easy it is to forget that much of the school board was elected by the people of Wake County with this issue in mind. Whether the decision is wrong or right, and I personally think there must be a better solution that either of the proposals, I hardly think it appropriate to blame the board for doing what the voters put them there to accomplish. Until we come up with a perfect system or seek out individuals with the capacity to develop one, we have only ourselves to blame for the outcomes. Responsibility and ownership are both the hallmark and the beauty of our governmental system.

As a taxpayer, resident and local professional, i am also the mother of twelve students, both past and present, and 5 grandchildren, all current Wake County Public School students.

I was appalled by the BOEs decisio to slipback into a blind segregation mode even with the preponderance of research that demonstates the dpotentially disastrous results thereof. While halfbakd, I believe that a few of those who voiced public opinion last night were indeed on the right track: (1) high quality education for ALL schools (2) voluntary integration and diversity through increased promotion of magnet facilities, and (3) encouraging diversity within neighborhoods to ultimately create balance in schools. One thing that I found offensive was a professional gentleman's statement that (paraphrased) all black schools are old, poorly maintained and dirty. Wow. What a cultural slap in the face for his own people. That is something that the BOE can address with vigor to assure that such does not occur!

While detesting the toxic triad offered up by most NAACP members (ignorance, arrogance and entitlement), and was embarrassed by the attempt to invoke Dr King into the equation, this local professional does believe that the BOE has made a self-destructive and decision that will negatively affect community morale, racial unity and property values (an ultimately the economy) in the area.

I would call for a subcommittee to study the eficacy of attending to the numbered items above. This local professional would gladly participate in discussion, fact-finding, data analysis and solution seeking with the BOE.

I applaud the hard work and dedication of service providers and advocates who work to find ways to end homelessness or make transitioning into permanent housing a success, but until they realize one thing...it has never and will never work...and that is...the thoughts and ideas of the homeless, themselves must be factored into the equation before a viable solution can be found.

Most service providers have never been homeless, so how can they tell me what it will take to get me out of something they know nothing about. A textbook or a case study can't identify with me on an individual; basis and that is another problem...the humaness has been taken out of Human Services and we, homeless people, have been cattled together into a stereotyped clump pf people instead of looked upon individually as the individuals we are.

What may work for one homeless person to get them out of homelessness, may not neccessarily work for me,, as I am a different person. People, homeless or housed must be looked upon as individuals and not a collective, as we are looked upon as being.
This must stop.
This is why there are few success stories in the homeless transition...
In the shelters where we live, we are looked upon as a collective....if one is guilty of something, then we all are...and that is not the truth...if one is guilty, then only one is guilty...not everyone.
If one is using drugs or alcolhol, doesn't mean we all are....just that one is.

There is no indivdualized attention anymore....and until there is...you will still have a problen with homelessness.

Remember...I am my own person, with my own ideals, my own thought processes and my own faults and flaws...besides...it wasn't the homeless who wrote this reply...
I did !

You all need to just let it go. I spoke with the Realtor and there are several recently written contracts at this site. I am planning to buy one myself after checking everything out for myself. I found the quality to be superb and I spoke with an owner who told me she loves the place. Everyone has to start somewhere, and what I personally witnessed was a quiet and quality driven building with floorplans and finishes like no other. I reccommend it to all. and things are looking up for Bloomsbury and the downtown market. Please people, why would you trash someone that is trying to add to the downtown skyline? I love all of the condo projects! Raleigh is growing!

A few years earlier? THE RECESSION STARTED IN 2007. HELLO!!!! NOW THE MARKET IS HEATING UP AND BLOOMSBURY IS LEADING THE CHARGE WITH PERFECT TIMING.

Judy appears to be very jealous of the finest looking condominium building in Downtown Raleigh. Bloomsbury was just recently completed AFTER the financial meltdown and just last night was honored with a Raleigh Downtown Imprint Award for enhancing the beauty of the Downtown Raleigh Skyline. Perhaps Judy should reflect on her own bitterness and not waste so much time attacking others. Did anyone ever stop to thick that this human being has a hidden objective which is enhancing her own pocketbook? No that would be too logical! She makes herself so obvious it is humorous.

Allen Tate just recently released this beautiful project to the marketplace. Seeing is believing. BLOGS ARE BLOGS

EVERYONE IS A JOURNALIST BLOOMSBURY HARRY POTTER

Just took a look at Wake County Property Tax info. I appears only one unit has sold. It's sad things are going downhill for John Bruckel and Bloomsbury. If the project had been completed a few years earlier......

Leave it to Civitas to spin it that way; nobody's using rail, so why should we be investing in it? Nevermind the fact that most people who currently don't use rail avoid it because it doesn't provide frequent enough service to the places they'd like to get to, a problem that appropriate investment can and will solve.

Okay, so the view of the prison is bad why? I have been in the units and I see The Joel Lane house, and Dorthea Dix land and trees and NC State Campus and a hospital at the prison which is new and blocks the view of the prison, and oh yeah...the most spectacular views of Raleigh on the east side. So perhaps Tina shouldn't walk in the neighborhood near the prison if it is so bad. No, that's not Tina's problem. Her problem is she's not Tina. She's obviously someone with a real vedetta that walks with Marcus coincidentally, in such a horrible place by the prison. AND she and her friend Marcus know all the details of the building because...they are psychic??? Perhaps she carries mace. Or maybe Marcus does. He loves the beautiful peice of land but I guess he hates it's location because it's too close to the prison which has been there among Boylan Heights harmlessly for decades. ( right behind the Mayor's house)Comon now Tina, you're tipping your mit.....
